The Ankeny Klothing Exchange (TAKE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Ankeny that provides free gently used clothing, shoes, linens, household goods, and more to people in need. In 2023, TAKE served 8,240 persons who shopped for more than 29,085 family and household members. These numbers have continued to grow in 2024. TAKE provides assistance to persons in need from Ankeny, Des Moines, and many other surrounding communities. TAKE has existed for over 30 years as an all-volunteer run organization.

TAKE lost its lease in 2023 and relocated in 2024. purchasing a suitable building for its growing operational needs.  While the mortgage payment is significantly less than what costs would have been to lease space in Ankeny, TAKE still needs the help of area communities in meeting their  costs.  As an all volunteer organization, TAKE’s costs consist solely of overhead expenses and  any improvements needed to the property.  The list of recent improvements includes adding a handicapped-accessable door and a diaper changing table.
